That’s not true at all. All states require photo ID to buy a gun and many states require a license for firearms.

It took me six months to get a license just so I could own a bolt action rifle.  

Regardless, in all states one has to pass a background check at the gun store prior to buying firearms and meet all the requirements. That is federal law.

You should actually research this subject before posting about tbh.
